Project name: Development of the water supply system in Murun city,
Chovsgul province, Mongolia
Financed by: Czech Development Agency
Implemented by: Ircon, Ltd., GEOTest Ltd.
Project partner: USNAAK
Implementation period: 2012

The aim of the first phase of the project was to determine the current condition of the water supply system in the Murun city in northern Mongolia. Also, to find out the condition of the current wells, that supply the water supply system of the city; finding out the composition and quality of water; finding out the condition of the operated pipeline; and as well, the purchase of technical equipment for water supply and sewerage and the design of the water treatment station.

The company Ircon, Ltd. provided, within the project, in consortium with other Czech companies, a survey of the municipal water supply pipeline in order to identify possible water leaks and to determine the quality of individual sections of the pipeline. As part of this activity, over 13 kilometers of pipelines were thoroughly analyzed by a specialized FUJI Tecom 2500 device, which can accurately search for leaks and determine the current condition of pipeline walls and mark sections recommended for replacement. The output was processed in the final report, which also contained a map record, which was subsequently used by the project beneficiary as a basis for removing the emergency condition of some parts of the pipeline.
