Pollution of inland water in Sri Lanka

This project was implemented from 2007 to 2009. The main target of this project was focused on the development of the new system for a wastewater treatment. Large volumes of hazardous substances, like solid wastes, wastewater, pathogenic biological materials etc., were annually disposed of without any type of treatment in hospitals throughout Sri Lanka. This situation negatively infl uenced the Sri Lanka ecosystem such as water sources, soil and health of patients and neighboring communities as well.
