Description of the project

The main target of the project is demonstration of modern approach in technical protection of the environment especially surface and underground water and prevention of water-born diseases, through application of the modern technologies for the wastewater treatment.

Training of local people in production and maintenance of environment technologies is one of main ideas of the project. In close to co-operation with the local partner, which has been located during the first year of the project, the several wastewater treatment plants were put into the operation in area concerned. The project team have actively co-operated with responsible bodies and design makers in Sri Lanka thus many of the technical designs were elaborated for the major polluter. Several of them were implemented in practise. In support of new modern approach of wastewater treatment we have also organised seminars and trainings for the locals.
